Having never tried #LinocutPrint Making, when my friend #LizHawkins from #Stiffkey offered to give our local book club a taster day at her amazing home studio, I jumped at the chance.
What a wonderful experience creating marks on pieces of #JapaneseLino and seeing the prints come to life using the different printing methods she has at home.
I can highly recommend jumping out of your #comfortzone and trying something new. We all loved being creative in a different way. I am sure it will help my landscape work too. As often I think about #markmaking in my paintings, whereas the mark making in linocut making has a very different result. Shapes, forms, and patterns were the emphasis of the day. It reminded me of the forgiving nature of Oil as a painting medium. When you linocut, there literally is no going back, when you make your mark. You have to start again from the very beginning.
